Castillo de FelicianaWe love small businesses and we intend to help them with their social media presence by bringing attention to their Facebook pages. Each week we feature a small business and learn why they love Facebook.

This weeks feature is Castillo de Feliciana and here’s what we asked them:

What element of Facebook has been the most beneficial to your business?

I think the connection with our fan base has been most beneficial.  I really enjoy interacting with the people who check in to our winery and responding to comments that our fans leave.  I have both Facebook and Twitter attached to my phone so I can respond fast and interact quickly to questions, comments and concerns our fans have.

How has Facebook changed your marketing efforts?

Facebook is just another added dimension to marketing.  It hasn’t changed our traditional methods of marketing it just is another facet.

How have you used Facebook to market your business that you can’t do by any other mean?

The real time communication you get with both Facebook and Twitter are very unique in that our fan base can say how they really feel on our page and we can connect almost immediately via notifications.  And- everyone as a group can see how much everyone loves our wine.  So, not only are they communicating with us as a company- they can communicate with each other and connect that way as well

What is a Facebook tip you can share with other small businesses?

Check it frequently (I check it every day at least) and place ads!

Thanks for the great information Kara! Head on over to Castillo de Feliciana’s Facebook page and “like” them!

Betsy, super excited.
This story is quite inspiring! It starts out with a woman who decided to quit her career to stay at home with her kids, but she wanted to do something. She took some crafty things she loved and gave away to friends from a hobby to a successful small business. Her products ended up in this year’s Golden Globe swag bags!

“It’s my business and it’s me marketing—nobody else is going to do it for me.”

How did she get her products in the hands of celebrities? Networking.  She connected with people and more people who introduced her to the right people.  Easier said than done, but it is very possible and I’ve seen it done time and time again. We all can learn a lot from her story:

  • Share on all social networks
  • Blog. Post content from you, the business owner
  • Feature other people, with nothing in return
  • If you see an offer you like, jump on it

It’s all in who you know and who they know. Below I’ve included an interview with Sue Kirchner, small business owner who has an online store and a very successful blog.  Sue shares her experiences that include excellent advice and tips on getting PR and press coverage for your small business. Enjoy!
