One of the corporate giants that is actively involved in growing the support of small businesses is American Express. Last year they began their Small Business Saturday initiative that encourages holiday shoppers to spend their dollars in small businesses. Small Business Saturday falls on Thanksgiving weekend between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, making it it November 26th for this coming year. After the success of last year, AmEx is working to make it an even better 2011.
“Last year, we saw a 28 percent rise in sales volumes for our small business merchants versus the same day in 2009,” said Mary Ann Fitzmaurice Reilly, senior vice president, American Express OPEN. “An all-star line-up of partners is coming together to provide the tools to help make this year even more impactful for small business owners throughout the country.”
This all-star line-up of partners consists of Facebook, Twitter, and Google (along with American Express of course) who are all contributing resources that will help the small business make the greatest impact over the holiday shopping time. You will be able to find this free toolkit on the American Express Shop Small Business Saturday page in the upcoming weeks.
