The Importance of the Social Web and Power of the Internet

I just watched a fabulous clip of Gary Vaynerchuk on the Piers Morgan Show, which was never aired. It’s really unfortunate that this was not aired, as Gary gave some fabulous nuggets of information for small businesses.

One point that Gary brought up is that of social media interaction, specifically on twitter. Most brands use social to push their product or service – tell, tell, tell. While they should be interacting with their fans and followers to naturally raise curiosity about what your company does. After showing them that there is a real person behind the brand, they can relate to you and are more likely to hear about your products and services.

Consumers these days have advertisements and subliminal messages constantly shoved in front of their eyes – it becomes very easy to overlook the message of the ad. Consumers want to buy from businesses who care about their customers.  Show your customers that you do care; ask questions, respond, learn about them, engage.

Take a few minutes to watch this video – something for everyone to learn!

Gary’s newest book, The Thank You Economy: “The world of business is coming full circle. The rise of the Internet and the empowerment of the common consumer has created a fundamental shift in how businesses are expected to behave.”
